Living in Reston

Reston designed in 1964 was the first modern, post-war planned community in America, sparking a revival of the planned community concept. The careful planning and zoning within Reston allowed for common grounds, several parks, large swaths of wooded areas with picturesque streams, wildflower meadows, two golf courses, nearly 20 public swimming pools, bridle paths, a bike path, four lakes, tennis courts, and extensive foot pathways. Reston has been long recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the best places to live because of its wide array of recreational offerings, variety of home styles, vast amount of parkland, pedestiran access, and proximity to both Washington, D.C. and Dulles International Airport.

For more than four decades, Reston residents have enjoyed the simple pleasures you would find in small towns across America - a walk around one of  the lakes or nature trails - tennis match with neighbors or just sitting back and enjoying watching  the children play.   Reston is laid out in residential village clusters featuring a large variety of housing types and real estate options, including condos, single-family homes, townhomes and estate properties.  Reston is zoned to Fairfax County Public Schools and county services so Reston residents have the  benefits of an excellent school system, superb medical facilities, a local government center, a variety of quality retail shopping and excellent restaurants.

Recreation & Activities

The Reston Town Center is home to a variety of  businesses, with high-rise and low-rise commercial buildings that are home to shops, restaurants, offices, a cinema, and hotel. It comprises over 1,000,000 square feet  of office space. Reston Town Center combines elements of the ideal downtown, the vitality of an Italian piazza and the diversity of a French boulevard. Easy-to-access stores make shopping a year-round pleasure. You’ll discover famous names and specialty shops lining the brick streets.  And at the Center’s hub, the Pavilion hosts special events, concerts, festivals throughout the year and ice-skating in winter, making this the focal point of the community and Northern Virginia’s “downtown.”
