Ashburn, an unincorporated area located in Loudoun County, is 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., and considered part of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Ashburn like Loudoun County has experienced explosive growth since the 1980's considering the recorded population was less than 100 families and has grown to more than 80,000 today. Ashburn is conveniently sited between Washington Dulles International Airport and Leesburg.  Many of its residents commute into Washington, D.C. and the surrounding suburbs such as Tysons Corner and Reston.

Living in Ashburn

Ashburn is home to  Verizon Business, Equinix, the Janelia Farm Research Campus (HHMI) and a variety of other hi-tech corporations.  "Redskins Park", the headquarters for the Washington Redskins is also located in Ashburn. Two universities, Strayer and George Washington University, have campuses in Ashburn.  There is no shortage of choices when it comes to real estate.  No matter what your community preference - gated, golf, retirement or rural - you will find it in Ashburn.  There are a variety of neighborhoods and home styles to choose from to suit your needs and budget.  Ashburn is served by Loudoun County Public Schools which are consistently ranked among the finest in the nation. 

Recreation and Activities

Ashburn and the Rt. 7 Strip possess one of the country´s most exciting shopping areas with retail outfits for both residents and vistors to enjoy. For history buffs, Ashburn is home to four landmarks on the National Register of Historic Places: Belmont Manor House (1799), the Broad Run Bridge and Toll House (1820), the sanctuary of Ashburn Presbyterian Church (1878), and Janelia Farm (1936).

Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park. This regional park features a scenic forty-five mile surfaced trail suitable for walking, jogging and biking which travels along Purcellville in Loudoun County all the way to Arlington County. The park also features a neighboring bridle track for riding horseback which extends thirty-three miles from Vienna in Fairfax County to Purcellville.

Avid golfers can tee off at Brambleton Regional Parks 18-hole championship golf course. The park is situated nearby Beaverdam Reservoir and features a variety of challenging holes landscaped by scenic woods and watering holes.
