Burke, VA

Once primarily a rural landscape, the Burke VA real estate market began to develop in the 1970s, with the construction of its first residential subdivision. Today, more than 57,000 people call this popular Washington suburb their home.  Burke is a great location for commuter's with the VRE access and minutes to the Fairfax County Parkway and Springfield Metro station.

 

 

 

 

Living in Burke

The Burke area is fairly residential in nature, with safe, quiet streets and beautiful houses.  Development in Burke didn't start in earnest until 1970, and 45 percent of its housing was built in that decade with another 40 percent built in the 1980s. Many of Burke's neighborhoods have generous half-acre lots, with mostly vinyl/brick split-levels and colonial-style homes lining its streets.    There is also a solid retail presence which makes it easy for homeowners to run errands, go shopping, or go out for dinner.  There are shopping malls  like Fair Oaks and Tysons Galleria within a short drive of Burke. Homes tend to be upscale and well cared for.  With excellent schools and recreation facilities, Burke VA real estate is a favorite of families. Public education is provided by the Fairfax County Public School System, which is among the most respected in the country.

 

Recreation

After school, there's plenty to do, with five community centers in the region, as well as a number of lakes and parks. Burke Lake Park is one of the top spots in the community, For decades, families have been riding around Burke Lake Park in a miniature steam engine, stopping for hand-dipped cones at the ice cream parlor, and hiking or biking along the trails and fishing in Burke Lake.
